Why uberVU is not working right now

There have been people asking me why uberVU does not seem to work right now, in the sense that it does not update reactions anymore.
We reached the full capacity of the server we were running on in November. It made sense to move everything to Amazon, and that’s what we’ve been doing since late November. This meant rearchitecting parts of the system, implementing the Amazon SQS, moving the front-end to Python so that we run on a single language, etc.
We’re still not done, it’s going to take about two weeks longer. It’s a long wait, but when we’re done, the improvement will be in the orders of magnitude.
In the mean time, as we reached full capacity, the crawlers can’t face the load. The times between the updates keep getting larger and larger. There have been blogs we have not crawled in a month I think, due to the large number of resources we crawl and the limited bandwidth we have.
We should have let you know about this sooner, I know, and I apologize.
In the mean time, we’ll take down the site as the update times don’t make it usable anyway.
Sorry guys, we’ll make it up to you. See you in a couple of weeks.
